Cleaning makeup brushes

Until I started washing my makeup brushes I had no idea how far their use could be stretched. It's was always the same dance of buying expensive makeup brushes and then throwing them away way too soon after when they became caked with makeup. It can be very frustrating when you feel like your investing in a product for its quality only to have to dispose of them before they've truly expired.
I find its best to keep up with it so as soon as I feel like my brushes aren't fully functioning anymore I wash them. Usually I do a couple at a time. I usually use a organic soap with natural oils and no para end or baby soap. The ingredients in these variety of soaps is mild, so as not to harm the brushes.
Start by wetting the brushes and squeezing as much excess makeup out of them as you can. Then add a dime size squirt of soap to the brushes and start squeezing and working the soap in. Rinse thoroughly. At this point you ca decide whether your brush is clean enough or if it could use a deeper cleanse. Foundations and shadows are made to stay on the skin so the same goes for brushes. I squeeze a little in my hand and move the brush in a circular motion so as to get down right to the bottom, as shown in the photo above.
Lay the brushes out to dry on a towel. I advise letting them dry for a good 5-6 hours. Most brushes are thick and need plenty of time before they are usable again. Wahla! You have like new brushes! This should help you in applying your makeup and also improve the longevity of your brush life!
